The Parting of Ways
RDG specialises in advising clients who wish to divorce. We understand the pain and distress of this traumatic time and offer a sympathetic, professional service to you and your family when you are in need of sound, clear advice. As members of the Resolution (formerly SFLA) and Law Society Family Law Panel we are one of the most experienced firms specialising in this sensitive area and have built up a considerable reputation over the years.
Our aim is to resolve your problems compassionately, quickly, fairly and for a reasonable fee. In most cases we can also avoid confrontation. After many years of experience we find this is the best way to resolve matters and to keep the emotional and financial pain to a minimum.
Finance
Resolving financial matters, including the future of your home, is a major issue in any separation. We are very experienced in finding amicable and civilised solutions which at the same time meet the necessary legal requirements. If appropriate we will issue court proceedings, which has the effect of giving everyone concerned a realistic set timetable in which to work towards a settlement. Only in the most difficult cases will it be necessary for a judge's formal decision to replace the agreement of the people involved, and in those cases we have the expertise to represent you and gain the best possible settlement for you.
Injunctions
We provide an emergency service to obtain court orders to protect clients from violent or threatening partners and to protect children where required.
Children & Child Protection Proceedings
We take particular care over matters involving children. The Children Act 1989 treats children as people with their own needs and rights and we are highly experienced in dealing with these issues. In
addition two Partners, one at our Reading office and one at our Wokingham office, are members of the Law Society's Children Panel enabling them to specialise in the most difficult matters concerning children.
Resolution
Our Family Lawyers follow the Resolution Code of' Conduct which promotes a firm, non confrontational and cost effective approach to all areas of Family Law.
Unmarried Couples
Difficulties can arise in relation to property and
the provision for
children matters when unmarried couples separate. Our family lawyers are skilled in providing the specialist advice demanded in these complex and delicate areas.
Collaborative Law
Traditionally, when couples split, they each take independent legal advice from specialist family lawyers. But there is an alternative. Instead, you and your former partner can sit down and, with the help of your own solicitors in the same room, work it out, face to face. This allows you to create the best solutions for you and your family with the support and guidance from your solicitors.
